Vivian and I are thrilled to announce that we received our mission call and assignment today. We have been assigned to the Singapore Mission, which covers Singapore and Malaysia. Vivian's specific assignment while we are there is to be an Area Mental Health Advisor. She will be supporting the mental health needs of missionaries locally and throughout the entire Asia Area...which also includes Bangladesh, Bhutan, Brunei, Myanmar, Cambodia, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Laos, Macau, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam. So you know - just a few countries covering more than 40% of the world's population!
In addition to being her faithful assistant in that assignment, I will also receive assignments from the mission president for other responsibilities. These could include working with the young missionaries, supporting local leaders and church units, teaching English or Family History classes, supporting the recently announced Singapore temple, or any of a host of other things. We don't know exactly what to expect, but are excited to find out!
We report to the Missionary Training Center on October 30th, and will get to Singapore at the start of December. Our call is for eighteen months, so we should be returning around May 1st, 2025. The two predominant mission languages are English (whew) and Malay (Bolehkah anda beritahu saya di mana untuk mencari bilik mandi?). I'm sure we'll encounter some Mandarin and Cantonese along the way too.
For those who would like to follow along on our adventures over the next two years, you can sign in above to get updates. Thank you all for your support as we embark on this amazing opportunity to serve!
